Cornwall
is famous for its gardens and my wife Sandra and I have visited many of
them over almost forty years of married life. The gardens range from
large estates to small cottage gardens, and these have now been enhanced
with the opening of the Eden Project.
In creating this web site we intend to revisit many gardens as well as visiting others for the first time. We will then add gardens to the site after each visit with photos and our thoughts on the gardens and the plants to be found there. Sandra has a great love and knowledge of plants and will try and give an insight into the thinking behind the creation of many of the great gardens of Cornwall as well as pocket histories on the men and women who collected plants from around the world or who bred them here in Cornwall. Each page will have a map of where the garden is and how to get there as well as opening times and cost of entry. Where we can we will provide a link to web sites on the gardens. We start the collection, however, not in a garden but with the West Cornwall Spring Show. So enjoy your visit to the site and we hope you will come back each week. George Pritchard March 2003.
